Blue Mountains Aged Care Committee (BMACC)

Our Purpose & Values

The Blue Mountains Aged Care Committee exists to champion aged care that is humane, ethical, and grounded in the lived realities of our community. Our purpose is to ensure older people in the Blue Mountains are supported to live with dignity, autonomy, and security, regardless of circumstance or care setting.

We believe ageing is not a problem to be managed, but a stage of life that deserves respect, patience, and thoughtful support.

Our values reflect this belief. We place people before systems, recognising that policies and services must serve real human needs, not administrative convenience. We value transparency and accountability, particularly where decisions affect vulnerable individuals and families.

Equity. Participation. Inclusion.

Equity is central to our work. We advocate for fair access to quality aged care services across the region, including for those living in more remote areas or with complex health, cultural, or social needs. We respect diversity and are committed to culturally sensitive and inclusive approaches to care.

Social

Collaboration and Principle

Collaboration guides how we operate. We work constructively with service providers, government bodies, carers, and community organisations to strengthen aged care outcomes. Our approach is evidence-informed, community-led, and future-focused, recognising the growing and changing needs of an ageing population.

Above all, we are guided by a simple principle: older people deserve to feel safe, heard, and valued in the communities they helped build.

WHAT WE DO

The Blue Mountains Aged Care Committee provides leadership, advocacy, and coordination to support high-quality aged care services across the region. We act as a bridge between older residents, carers, service providers, and decision-makers, ensuring community voices inform planning and delivery.
